Lynn Yeow’s elegant womanly style is inspired by the classic, bombshell look of Milan’s swish, sexy fashionistas.

This communications veteran has over a decade of experience in Singapore’s F&B and hospitality scene. She runs a successful integrated communications agency The Ate Group, co-founded parenting guide website Sassymama Singapore, and is mother to four young boys aged between two and 12. Despite her busy schedule, the self-professed foodie still finds time to travel the world with celebrity chefs, hoteliers and food critics, in search of the best that the culinary world has to offer.

Classic, comfortable, yet unmistakably womanly wardrobe staples play a big part in this entrepreneur’s life. She lives by a single mantra, which she applies to both her personal and professional life: She can never have too much on her plate. This is true of her dressing as well. Not one to shy away from bold accessories, she unapologetically pulls off looks that play up her feminine allure.

A Conversation with Lynn

Describe your personal style.

Elegant comfort. I wear what I feel good in.

How has Milan influenced your personal style?

Milanese style is classic and timeless. Over the years, that has pretty much become my own personal dress code too.

Which fashion designers and labels best represent Milan’s style, and why?

Prada – always classic and comfortable, with collections of beautiful ready-to-wear dresses. Bottega Veneta – for exquisite craftsmanship and being timeless. La Perla – for luxurious, elegant lingerie, plus its collection of gorgeous evening wear.

The most stylish neighbourhood in Milan is...

Navigli. It’s a historic and romantic neighbourhood. Walk, explore and get lost in it. There are many cool, interesting shops and restaurants that open in the day, and in the evening, its nightlife takes over. You must also take a boat – preferably one that is based on Leonardo da Vinci’s designs – in summer through the canals. Also, go to Taglio for good coffee, as well as Italian cheeses and produce.

Name your top three must-dos in Milan?

Try the gelato at Artico Gelato Tradizionale. They use artisanal ingredients and traditional methods to make gelato. Stay at Grand Hotel et de Milan, a historic Milanese mansion. It offers old school luxury and comfort in the heart of the city. And visit Mercato Agricolo, a farmers’ market that supplies produce from boutique farms. While you’re there, you can learn more about traditional Milanese culture, interact with the locals, and find out about the city’s hidden gems.

What are your must-have fashion items for Fall/Winter 2016?

Anything with bold colours or stripes (on dresses or tops), oversized sweaters, and leggings – especially if they’re textured and embellished.
